Paul Cote has been calling since 1998, first based in New England, and now in Houston, Texas. He, and his wife Mary Ellen, are the owners of Hilton Audio Products, and DOSADO.com. Paul calls for the Bluebonnet Squares of Houston and guest calls around the country.
I learned to square dance in 1987 with the Bloomington Swirlers in Bloomington, MN. Wayne Tauer was the caller. I first tried calling in 1991 and it took me until 2007 to call again. In 2009 I got serious about calling so with the help of Mike Driscoll I began the process. I made my professional debut as a caller in September 2009 when I called at the TTT square dance club. In October of 2009 I began teaching my first class of beginners for the Ar-Dales square dance club. Also in October of 2009 I attended and completed the Pride Callers Collage which is held in North Carolina and is taught by Jerry Story, Tony Oxendine, Jon Jones and Deborah Carroll-Jones. In 2010, I called at my first conventions by calling at the Iowa State Convention, the Minnesota State Convention and the NSDC in Louisville, KY. I also attended and completed the GSI Caller’s School in Louisville, KY and in 2013 I attended the North Star Callers school that was held in Mankato, MN and my instructors were Ken Ritucci, Scot Byers and Bear Miller. I am a member of CallerLab, The Minnesota State Square Dance Callers Association (MSDCA), the Iowa State Callers, Cuers and Instructors Association (ISSCIA) and I am a member of Swingmasters which is the Central East Callers Association. My home club is the Sunday Squares and I call for them on the 4th Sunday of the month.
Also in the fall of 2013 I released my first singing call, Come Dance With Me, and the song is available on the Cheyenne Records label. In 2014 I released Tracy and Clouds on Cheyenne and in 2015 I released Eye In The Sky and Rings on Gold Wing Records and Ocean Front Property on Cheyenne.
I will travel to call square dances. Please contact me about calling for your club or event. I call beginners through the Plus level.
My wife, Debbie, and I are Past Presidents of The Bloomington Swirlers, also we were the Assistant Chairman for Housing and Registration at the 51st National Square Dance Convention. We are also former Secretaries for the Square Dance Federation of Minnesota. We are also the local hosts for the North Star Callers School which is held in the odd numbered years in Minneasota.
I hope to see you in a square sometime.
We regularly dance on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Fishers United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Fishers, Indiana. For up-to-date information on dates and callers, see our web site at Indy B ‘n’ B.
Our dances are Mainstream and Plus level dancing with Round Dancing between tips. We have pre-rounds from 7:30 to 8:00, and alternate a square dance tip and then two round dances from 8:00 until 10:30.
The Indy B ‘n’ B Square Dance Club is a “Singles” Club, but we welcome couples at any time to dance with us, and invite singles and couples to join us as members. Both partners of a married couple must join our club at the same time.
We are members of The Indiana Dancers Association
Ted Lizotte is a sought after caller, calling throughout the New England region. He is gaining well deserved attention nationally and internationally thanks in part to his keynote speech at the 64th National Square Dance Convention. He has been calling since 1988, and pleases crowds from Basic Fun Nights through A2. He is involved in training prospective callers and currently calls for four separate clubs, including Tech Squares of Cambridge, Mass.
Ted’s choreography is always interesting and fresh, and while he is skilled at challenging all position calling, his priority is always “reading the floor”, and making sure everyone is comfortable and having a good time. His sardonic humor and charismatic personality keep everyone laughing.
Ted calls Basic thru A2. He travels nationally and internationally as his job allows.
We are with Southern Indiana Square Dance Council which includes three clubs.
1. River City Ramblers
2. Warrick Promenaders
3. Mt. Carmel Promenaders
Calling since 1973. Member of the Connecticut Caller’s Association and the
North Carolina Callers Association.
Currently living outside of Raleigh, NC.
Doing parties and dances from beginner’s thru plus.
Joe’s introduction to square dance calling came at the early age of eight, when his grandfather assisted him in learning his first few singing calls. Joe has been actively calling and teaching Basic through A-2 since 1971, and recently began calling C-1. He has been a featured caller for many festivals, conventions, and special dances in over 40 states, Canada, Denmark, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand and Sweden. Joe is a member of Callerlab and is BMI/ASCAP licensed. As a recording artist his voice can be heard on the Alliance, Blue Star, Chinook, DJ, Dance Ranch, Hi-Hat, Riverboat, Royal & Silver Sounds labels, as well as many CD’s & cassettes. Joe is also a member of SAG, and choreographed and appeared in a made-for-TV movie, “Blue Skies”.
Joe and his wife Chris married in 1982, and they have led 10 successful tours/cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, Hawaii and Mexico (Puerto Vallarta & Cancun). Chris held a managerial position for 19 years, and has always supported Joe’s calling career. Their daughter, Tanya, 31 years old, is an accomplished vocalist and has appeared on many of Joe’s CD’s; she is also the proud mother of two-year-old Shania.
In 2001, they relocated from their home on the Northern California coast to south Texas. Joe and Chris spend November-April running a full square dance program, Beginners through C-1, in Pharr/McAllen, TX in the Rio Grande Valley, “The Square Dance Capital of the World.” The remaining months they maintain a smaller program, tour and travel domestically & internationally to call at festivals and special dance events. Joe enjoys what he calls his vocation and avocation, and feels fortunate to be part of this great activity.
